5Core Outdoor Speakers Stereo In Wall 100W Peak Passive Home Audio System 2 Pieces

I am rating these speakers as 1-star only (POOR). The rating system seems to be set-up to confuse reviewers. Very deceptive.

These 5core 5C-15T are a perfect example of is wrong with today's foreign made audio electronics, sold via the internet.

Look at the description of these speakers. They are stated to be:
6-inches tall
4-inches wide
2-inches deep.
ALL WRONG!

These speakers are actually much larger, about:
18-inches tall
6-inches wide
4.5-inches deep

Why the discrepancy?

Someone misinterpreted these speaker's description. These speakers house two (2) 4-inch by 6-inch drivers. Someone mistakenly translated this into speaker dimensions. And every fool on the internet copied and pasted this inaccuracy. This is a perfect example of why NOT to believe what you read on the internet. Most users never bother to vet their information before passing it on, unfortunately for us all.

So, aside from the gross error in dimensions, here are the other negatives:

Absolutely zero bass response.
Not a little bass. NO BASS! The included 4-inch x 6-inch drivers are very very inexpensive stiff-cone speakers designed primarily for simple voice range (talking, not singing). These are the type of speaker one might find in a CB speaker box, for example. Not for quality audio reproduction.

I don't know how these speakers can possibly be rated as outdoor water resistant or water proof. The speaker cones are made of paper! Not some water-resistant polymer or metallic material.

There is NO tweeter. In the description, a diagram points to a "tweeter". Another error. The diagram is actually pointing to the knob which tightens to hold the mounting bracket in place. And I have read in the description of a crossover as well, also non-existent, as there is no tweeter to connect.

There is a frequency response curve included in the description. If you understand graphs, it suggests these speakers can reach down to 40 Hz (which is nice deep bass). Impossible! With the low quality of the included drivers, I sincerely doubt these speakers can reproduce any bass output below a few hundred hertz. The included drivers are made for voice-box sound reproduction, only, imo.

It is a crying shame, really.
The shell of the speaker is made of sheet metal. But the top and bottom are bolted into place with nuts and bolts. No screws. A much tighter fit.
The front baffle is actually a wood product (probably 1/2-inch MDF). The individual speakers are bolted to the baffle. Again, no screws. A much better design.
These speakers are really small tower speakers. They feature heavy rubber feet and stand tall enough to be placed on the floor or on either side of a tv. They look decent either way.
These speakers are pretty heavy too, for their size, which conveys a sense of quality.
These speakers are 8-ohms. They contain 2x 4-ohm speakers wired in series. So they are compatible with all amps and especially well suited for home stereo amplification.
These speakers include a built-in transformer and various inputs for connection to Public Address systems, which is very unusual. I do not recall ever seeing a home audio speaker with such added versatility.
The mounting bracket is metal and seems to mount securely in place. It swivels, allowing a good range of directionality.

My suggestion to 5core:

Replace the cheap 4-inch by 6-inch drivers with a pair of decent 4-inch round woofers or 4-inch by 6-inch actual woofers and add a small tweeter, in the center, for a MTM configuration. Add some polyester damping internally. Then, you might have a pair of really nice home audio speakers, also suited as outdoor speakers, or as quality PA speakers.

Too bad. If I could afford to experiment with these speakers, I'd try rebuilding them, using the existing enclosures and baffles. What a shame.

I honestly contemplated taking these speakers apart and replacing the junk 4x6 inch speakers with decent aftermarket 4x6 inch speakers.

5core went to all this trouble to build these speakers and then skimped on the actual drivers. Too bad. I think these speakers have potential.
